The S25 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro XL are two summits: maximal hardware versus maximal intelligence. The match isn't where you expect it.
Design and display
The Ultra does everything bigger: 6.9" anti-glare Gorilla Armor, built-in S Pen. The Pixel is more compact for an XL and its design traps fewer reflections than before. Screen advantage: Samsung.
Camera: the real question
- Pixel 9 Pro XL wins point-and-shoot: night, portraits, AI processing — the final image arrives ready
- The S25 Ultra wins versatility: 5x optical, 100x zoom, 50 MP ultra-wide, full manual control
Plainly: the Pixel photographs better by default, the Samsung photographs further and wider.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra
12GB RAM · 256GB · 6.86 · AMOLED Dynamic LTPO Amoled 2X
Battery and charging
Close batteries, equal endurance (1.5 days). Charging: 45 W versus 37 W — Samsung keeps a slight practical edge.
Software and longevity
7 years on both. Galaxy AI is richer in features; Google delivers the most natural AI and Android novelties first.
Verdict
The zero-effort photographer: Pixel 9 Pro XL. All-terrain, zoom, productivity, screen: S25 Ultra. Both tracked at real prices on the comparator.
