Fifteen Algerian stores currently list the Galaxy A56 5G, and the spread between them is wider than most buyers expect: 72,000 DZD for the 8 GB / 128 GB model at the cheapest shop, 97,990 DZD for the same phone elsewhere. That is 25,990 DZD, or 36% of the lowest price, for identical hardware in an identical box.
The gap is not explained by warranty terms or bundled accessories. Most listings are the bare handset. It comes from how little price information travels between Algiers, Oran and the smaller wilayas, where shops rarely match the coastal prices.

The 256 GB variant exists but is scarce locally. Shops that stock it charge 8,000 to 12,000 DZD more, which would be reasonable if the A56 accepted a memory card. It does not. Buyers who keep more than two years of photos on the phone should decide on storage before they negotiate the price.
What the money buys
The A56 pairs a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel at 120 Hz with Samsung's Exynos 1580, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The main camera is a 50 MP sensor with optical stabilisation, joined by a 12 MP ultra-wide and a 5 MP macro. The front camera shoots 4K. A 5,000 mAh battery charges at 45 W, the frame is IP67 rated, and Samsung promises six major Android upgrades from Android 15.
At 198 g and 7.4 mm, it sits comfortably in a hand. The fingerprint reader is under the display. Peak brightness reaches 1,200 nits, enough to read messages outdoors and not quite enough to watch a full match in direct sun.
Three details the spec sheet skips
No charger in the box. Samsung stopped including one, and few Algerian listings mention it. A compatible 45 W brick costs 3,000 to 5,000 DZD; without it, charging stays slow even with the right cable.
The warranty follows the shop, not Samsung Algeria. Many units arrive through importers. Ask for a named invoice with the shop's stamp. Without it, no service centre will honour a repair.
The model number matters. SM-A566B is the international 5G unit. Some 72,000 DZD listings are refurbished stock or single-SIM imports from the Gulf. The seller should confirm the reference on the box before you open it.
Buy now or wait?
At 72,000 DZD the A56 has no direct rival that combines IP67, six years of updates and a panel this good. At 97,990 DZD the argument collapses: that is used-flagship territory, and the Samsung lineup still holds 2024 models that game faster.
For messaging, family photos, navigation and two days away from a socket, the cheapest listing is the sensible buy. For heavy gaming, look elsewhere; the Exynos 1580 holds recent titles at medium settings and stops there.
Current deals sometimes bundle a case and screen protector. That does not justify a 10,000 DZD difference, but it breaks a tie between two shops at the same price.
Verdict
The Galaxy A56 is a rational purchase as long as you avoid the top of the range. Confirm the model number, get the invoice, budget for a charger, and keep the 25,000 DZD you saved. The phone itself is the same in every shop.
